Professional Development for our Middle School Athletics Coaches

Great teachers help create great students. Here at La Scuola we place a high value on Professional Development for our faculty and staff, and offer many opportunities for them to attend professional development courses throughout the year, as well as scheduled in-school professional development days, focused on specific topics from which all faculty and staff can benefit and find value. This holds just as true for our middle school athletics coaches who coach and train our middle school students.  

Recently La Scuola’s middle school Athletic Director, Mario Rossetti, and middle school Basketball Coach, Tim Cooper, attended the USA Basketball Coach Academy Clinic, which took place in San Francisco the weekend of May 6 and 7. This clinic was an amazing opportunity for our coaches to learn from some of the most respected and successful coaches in the country.

Mario and Tim had the chance to hear from and meet with a number of esteemed coaches during the clinic, including Coach Dave Bollwinkel, who is an NBA scout for the Chicago Bulls; Coach Jerod Haase, who is the head coach for Stanford’s Men’s Basketball Team; Sue Phillips, who is the head coach of Archbishop Mitty and founder of San Jose Cager; and Mark Madsen, who is the head coach for UC Berkeley’s Men’s Basketball Team. These coaches have an incredible amount of knowledge and experience in the basketball world, and our coaches were able to learn from their insights and expertise.

The USA Basketball Coach Academy Clinic is a highly-regarded program that provides coaches with the opportunity to learn about new training methods, strategies, and tactics from some of the best coaches in the country. We believe that the knowledge and skills Mario and Tim gained during this clinic will help them provide an even better experience for our student-athletes.

We are happy to have had the opportunity to send our coaches to this clinic and are excited to see the impact of their learnings on our middle school basketball program. Athletics in our middle school program is an important part of student life.
